Lockwood Brass competed at their third consecutive Pontins Championships on 30th October 2004. With several members of the band unable to play on that date, the band put on a good performance under conductor Steve Malcolm and came away with a credible 7th place.

Malton Brass 2004
Just a week after the Pointins contest saw the band in Malton. The own choice programme contest saw Lockwood Brass walk away with not just 1st place but also all the special prizes. Under the baton of John Roberts the band performed a varied program. Starting with the Olympic Fanfare & Theme from the 1984 LA Olympics, before Principal Cornet, Graeme Laird, performed the cornet solo Georgia On My Mind. The band’s march was Ravenswood which was followed by Putting On The Ritz and finishing with the Final Hymn from The Firebird. The four prizes of Most Versatile Percussion, Best Basses on March, Best March and Best Soloist all went to Lockwood as well as finishing five points clear from the second placed band.
